Meta has not formally announced any Prada branded AI glasses, but fresh signals from Milan Fashion Week and earlier reporting suggest the idea is moving closer to reality.
On February 25 and 26, 2026, Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg and Priscilla Chan were photographed in the front row at Prada’s Fall Winter show in Milan. Seated beside them was Lorenzo Bertelli, Prada’s marketing and merchandising chief. The high profile pairing quickly drew attention from both tech and fashion media, which framed the moment as more than a routine fashion appearance.
Several outlets pointed out another detail that added to the speculation. Zuckerberg, who often appears in public wearing Meta’s Ray Ban smart glasses, was not seen wearing them at the Prada show. While not proof of anything, the absence fed the narrative that a separate Prada focused collaboration could be in development.
The Milan buzz did not emerge in isolation. In June 2025, CNBC reported that Meta was exploring additional AI eyewear lines with Prada and Oakley as part of its broader smart glasses roadmap. At the time, the Prada version was described as in development with no confirmed launch window.
Former Meta staff cited in that coverage noted that Prada’s thicker frame designs could be particularly well suited for housing the cameras, microphones, and battery components required for advanced AI eyewear. Compared with slimmer lifestyle frames, chunkier luxury designs can offer more internal space for hardware without compromising aesthetics.
Meta’s current smart glasses ecosystem already relies on EssilorLuxottica as its manufacturing partner. The eyewear giant also holds a long term licensing agreement to produce Prada, Prada Linea Rossa, and Miu Miu eyewear through 2030. That shared supply chain is one reason analysts see a Prada Meta product as commercially straightforward if the companies decide to proceed.
Despite the growing chatter, there is still no confirmed Prada Meta device.
Meta has declined to comment on the Milan appearance or any potential Prada collaboration. Prada has also not issued any public statement about AI smart glasses beyond its existing licensing arrangements with EssilorLuxottica.
Industry roundups, including those from CryptoRank and other observers, continue to describe the product as informed speculation rather than an announced launch. There are currently no public details on product naming, specifications, pricing, or release timing.

Even without an announcement, the strategic logic behind a Prada collaboration is relatively clear. Meta’s smart glasses push has been expanding into distinct market segments.
The Ray Ban Meta line targets mainstream lifestyle buyers. The Oakley Meta direction is focused on sports and outdoor users. A Prada edition would give Meta a credible entry into the luxury fashion tier, completing a three-pillar positioning across everyday, performance, and high fashion eyewear.
Luxury branding could also support higher price points and appeal to consumers who view smart glasses as both a technology product and a style statement. Analysts have repeatedly noted that fashion credibility may be critical if Meta wants smart glasses to move beyond early adopters into broader cultural acceptance.
Any move into luxury smart glasses would also amplify the privacy debate already surrounding AI eyewear.
The Ray Ban Meta line has faced ongoing scrutiny around always on cameras and ambient recording in public spaces. Some commentators warn that embedding similar capabilities into high fashion frames could normalize always present cameras in environments where people remain uncomfortable being recorded.
There are also broader developer ecosystem concerns. Previous reporting has highlighted how relatively easy it can be to build apps that detect or log nearby smart glasses usage, raising questions about future platform controls and safeguards.
If Meta does move forward with a Prada branded model, analysts expect the company will face renewed pressure to clarify its privacy protections, recording indicators, and third party app policies.
Taken together, the signals are meaningful but not definitive.
Credible reporting since mid 2025 indicates that Prada smart glasses are under development alongside Meta and EssilorLuxottica. The renewed licensing structure between Prada and Luxottica aligns cleanly with Meta’s existing manufacturing pipeline. And Zuckerberg’s prominent appearance at Prada’s Milan show has only intensified industry speculation.
What is still missing is official confirmation. There is no announced product, no launch window, and no public technical detail.
For now, Prada Meta AI glasses remain a well supported industry rumor rather than a confirmed device. But the strategic pieces are increasingly visible, and the luxury tier may be the next battleground in Meta’s expanding smart eyewear push.
